The Beautiful One

Hey y’all, it’s me again. The beautiful one from North Carolina. I went to a lot of neighborhood cookouts this past week. Great food, music and people.

Twice last week a homeless man and woman bought my Street Sense newspaper and others gave without buying the paper. Great, huh!

While selling newspapers, I saw a very well-dressed African-American female. She looked like she was 80 or close to it. She had a walker. While passing her, she asked me for a cigarette. I continued walking because very seldom do I see women begging/asked for cigarettes. When I realized what she said, I thought about giving her a cigarette but I didn’t. She was dressed very nicely, her hair in place. I did not want her to smoke because the smoke would get in her clothes and also I thought she might have Alzheimer’s and didn’t know where she was at the time.

To all who have a place to stay or financial stability, count your blessings and thank the “higher power” for your good luck. Sadly, homelessness and poverty don’t care about age, gender, and race. We also live in a time where anyone of us could be homeless.

Be nice to people. Join the Family. Now, y’all be safe until next time.
