As a junior Girl Scout, I learned how to become one with nature after spending several years visiting various state parks, learning how to pitch a tent, start a fire using wood sticks and use a compass to determine what direction is north, south, east and west.
I also attended a women’s retreat in Virginia — no technology, completely surrounded by woods, tall oak trees, brooks of water that was clean with birds and flowers.
