How I Got Here

I was born September   27th 1990 to Minette and Shelton Joyner.  I was born HIV positive.

I have three children, Alicia, 5 years old; Shelton, 3 years old; and Jasiah, 2 years old.  My kids are HIV negative, so are their fathers.

My life growing up as HIV positive was kind of difficult. My Mom passed away when I was 4 years old.  My Dad passed, when I was 7 and my Grandmothers 16 and 14. I was teased in school.  A lot of people did not want to sit by me in the cafeteria or class.

I lost my job at Ledo Pizza because I told people at my school about my HIV status and they told my manger. She said she had to let me go. I started working at Six Flags, then Carnival after the Summer Youth Employment Program. Now I sell Street Sense.
