Farewell Dear Friends

Dear Street Sense Family,

As my yearlong AmeriCorps term winds to an end here at Street Sense, I want to thank you all for sharing friendship, laughs, hardships, hugs, and love with me!

I have seen that each day you are helping our community build a future without homelessness. Through connecting with customers or sharing your artistic skills, you bring the movement to end homelessness to life. And thus it grows stronger. Your writing, performances, education for the community, and art speak to humanity and the bright future that you are building.

Please don’t ever give up that fight for a brighter future, for your life and for the community in general. Remember that you are cared about not only by everyone at Street Sense, but by many customers and people you haven’t even met yet. Remember to let these people know what your goals are, so that they may work with you to make them happen. People working together is what a community is all about.

I will still be volunteering after regular business hours to create the Lessons of Hope Forum Events and will see you all again at Street Sense events and occasionally in the office. I am beginning to work at local non-profit A Wider Circle, starting September 1. There I will also be working on building a future without homelessness and poverty. I look forward to continue working shoulder-to-shoulder with you towards this shared goal.

Sending love and hugs,
Rachael Buck
