Eugene Versluysen

I grew up in Antwerp amidst the terror and devastation of a brutal German occupation. After graduating from Brussels University I found my vocation in international finance and moved to London on a one-way ticket in 1969. With a post-graduate degree in economics from London University, I began teaching at the London School of Economics. That and a textbook on international finance landed me a job as a senior economist at the World Bank in DC, where I have been since 1980. Now retired, I have published another textbook (on Microfinance), continue to enjoy writing and, most of all spending time with Street Sense vendors.
