Damayanti Desai, better known as Dimpy, is a volunteer writer and editor at Street Sense. Dimpy is a recent graduate of Dartmouth College, where she double-majored in Economics and Government, and first became engaged in efforts to address the unique social injustices faced by incarcerated and re-entering populations. At Street Sense, Dimpy is focusing on incarceration-related topics.
Dimpy believes in the work of street papers because, as Paulo Freire said, “word is not the privilege of some few persons but the right of everyone”. In her spare time, Dimpy can be found falling off her bicycle, giggling at puns, and caffeinating herself among friends.
