Everywhere I go, people always want to know, why do you wear the hat? Well, many years ago I was working in Tenleytown on Dr. Seuss’s birthday, which is on March 2. I was doing a speaking engagement and most of the kids were wearing Dr. Seuss hats. One of the kids from the Jannie school asked me if I wanted one. And I said, “Sure.”
It was kind of cool having it on. It was so hard trying to get the hat to stand up. So I ended up using a newspaper to prop it open. (By the way, I have the who Dr. Seuss suit).
The Cat in the Hat is my logo, and it’s a lot of fun. The kids just love it. I go everywhere with that hat: to parties, football and baseball games. Now you know, I am the hat, the one and only cat in the hat.
