Too Good for Words

A portrait of Beverly Sutton

Street Sense

I had to go to the Social Security Administration (SSA) last month for my photo ID and Social Security card. Why?

Because I got an apartment!

I had not had an ID for many years because I didn’t have a place to live. I feel so much better with an ID. Now if something happens to me in the street, people will know who I am. Before, no one would have known anything. Everyone needs an ID.

Having an apartment is too good for words. It’s a real shelter. I can cook. I have a bed. I have furniture. I can take a bath whenever I want, even when I don’t need it!
