In the deepest part of my addiction
I met this pretty little black and white kitten.
She was timid, afraid but wanted to be loved.
I knew then she was sent to me from the heavens above.
Running behind trees, up under cars,
Although she dipped and dodged, she didn’t wander far.
When we reached my house, I knew she was sleepy
And I had to feed her.
That’s when my priorities stepped in: It was either
more dope or getting her something to eat.
God spoke to me with a loving, soft voice
Now is the time to make a choice.
I thought if he trusts me to take care of a living creature like he’s taken care of me,
My eyes were then open to another way of life: I began to see.
Still today I’m grateful and I thank God for sending that little black and white kitten
to show me a better way to live.
Now every day I look to pay it forward, I look for a way to give.
