This great woman was born January 30th, 1944 in Washington D.C. Her name was Sharon Pratt Dixon Kelly. At the age of 46, she became the first African American female mayor of the District of Columbia. Even though she only served one term, her election proved that even the nation’s capital can be diverse with its leaders.
