On November 26, 2007, four young men invaded Sean Taylor’s house in Miami, Florida attempting to rob his house. To their surprise, Sean Taylor was home with his girlfriend and their 18 month old daughter. Sean Taylor locked his bedroom door, which was kicked in by the alleged shooter, Eric Rivera. Sean Taylor was shot in his femoral artery and died a day later, due to the amount of blood loss.
There was an outcry of condolences and sympathy across the NFL and the United States. The trial of Eric Rivera began earlier this week, while the other defendant’s trial is later on. One defendant, Verge Hunte pled guilty and was sentenced to 29 years in prison.
