My DC experience

Graphic by Bruna Costa

I love to visit the National Mall and every park in the city of Washington, D.C. I am a big fan of the National Mall because I love my history. History is very important to me as I live right down the street from the Capitol building. The sights here are amazing. Many people come from all over to visit Washington, D.C. The love for this city is tremendous.

To be a part of this history is a dream. The history behind everything here is an awesome thing to learn, such as learning how the monuments are symbols. The Washington Monument is the one monument’s history I don’t know too much about. The Capitol building is where members of Congress meet. The White House is where the president lives and works. The monuments in D.C. have been there throughout U.S. history, during times of war and reconstruction.

I personally believe I need to learn more about my home here. There is a lot more to it. Some of the monuments here date back to before any of us were born, so we don’t all know everything. But I think it’s still good to visit the sites to learn what we can.
