Memories and thoughts about my dad

I can’t believe it has been seven years since the passing of my dad on Feb. 20, 2015. He is thought about highly and greatly by me and my family. He is honored and treasured with love. His death filled us all with tears and heartbreak. We visit his grave every year and lay flowers and a wreath, a token of our love for him.

We cry a million cries and and send him kisses as we all speak to him, an angel gone to his new “mansion” in heaven where he is full of laughter and joy with no suffering, no pain and no cancer..

The cemetery is always very peaceful and quiet with birds chirping away while a crisp fresh morning breeze blows sadness in our hearts. We always have an “in life celebration” at my mom’s house with music, pizza, our KFC dinner, our Little Caesar’s pizza and our drinks. Everybody shares their thoughts and memories of dad.

My father was the best at all he did in his life. At 7 years old, he was a paperboy for the  Washington Daily., He was recognized highly as one of the first colored paperboys who worked during the 1930s. He made headlines and is famous for his work on the internet. He was also a musician at Cardoza High School.

He and my mom dated each other, and as true love rose between them, he got engaged with my mom. He proposed to her. It was a dream come true by temptation, “will you marry me?”

He servedin the US Army. He was a sergeant in charge. He was the best at what he did. He had us, me, my two sisters and brother. What a family of six we were. He and my mom took care of us. They were very great parents. They took us everywhere.

My dad always loved to cook, garden, can food, watch football he liked all the games. He loved his water. He loved to clean. And he loved to do people’s taxes. He was just the best father anyone could ask for.

When he discovered that he had a small tumor growing, he went to his doctor. That’s when he discovered he had developed colon cancer. His life was over. It was stage four. He was very upset. I had never seen my father cry. But to us, the fact that he was going to die, this pain hurt us so badly.

We all took care of him. We all stood by his side, until the day before he passed. He cried and talked to Jesus. The birds chirped and sang on the window ledge for a day. And the next day he was gone.

So helpless, he finally went that early morning as the lord and his angels came and got my father, took him up a “yonder” up in their wings to heaven. He was a great father, grandfather, and husband to my mother.

We all miss you so much Dad, We will all see and join you one day.
