I used my DC One Card on many occasions when I lost my ID. The card is not the same, but it’s pretty close.
According to the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, “the DC One Card is a consolidated credential designed to give children, adults, and seniors access to DC government facilities and programs, including public schools, recreation centers, libraries and the Metro. The DC One Card is also a building access card for DC government employees and includes a bonus – Metro SmarTrip capability for travel within the WMATA transportation system.” I used it for all these services, particularly the library and the rec centers. The One Card was very helpful when I lost those IDs. The card has also helped many of our homeless, who sometimes struggle to get an ID.
And… guess what? I have my ID now. I’ll try my hardest not to lose it.
