Gratitude

Street Sense, I want to thank you
for all you’ve done for me
right now I have a place to live
with my own mailbox key.
Because I sell the paper
I network every day
and every time I make a sale
to me, I’ve earned my pay.
I also give our readers
all the credit that they’re due
acknowledging that they’re supportive
today and all year through.
There’s one more thing I want to say
in hopes you’ll understand –
“Homeless” is an adjective
not the essence of the man.
