Feeling the heat in July

Independence Day is a day of rest. Enjoy your holiday, travel, have a picnic in your backyard, or take your grill down to East Potomac Park, park your car, and grill hot dogs and hamburgers or chicken and have a bushel of crabs and pig out. You, your family, and friends can enjoy an outing. Every year, people set up tables and chairs to sell drinks, beers, and wine, play live music at the park, and purchase fireworks to shoot into the sky at night. I was at my apartment with my girlfriend in Silver Spring, watching the fireworks shoot into the sky.

The weather is getting hotter in the months of July and August. I will be going to the pool, staying in the water to do some swimming, and relaxing. At evening in the city, I sell the Street Sense papers. Some customers offer gift cards and use their phone to buy or make a donation, which shows love and friendship, and they treat us like family, which is a smart thing.

We hope and pray the Democrats take Congress, because the Republicans and MAGA did a lot of damage to the American people. They are not happy with what Trump and his people did to cut Medicare, Social Security, and health care American people work for and earn. I vote and hope and pray the Democrats win this election. That they will fight and keep their promise to make this country safe and lower costs on food, rent, and gas, create jobs for middle-class people, and make schools better and safer so they can grow and learn, and also graduate with honors.
Enjoy this heat wave summer, traveling down the beach, and walking the boardwalk wearing sunshades.

Stay safe.
