Secretary of the Board

Clare Krupin is a progressive speechwriter who has partnered with a long list of prominent principals including CEOs, elected officials, activists, advocates, and a Nobel laureate.

In her current role at Pivotal Ventures, a Melinda Gates company, Clare helps Melinda Gates give voice to her efforts to advance social progress in the United States and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s work to promote gender equality, improve access to health care, create pathways out of poverty, and shape an equitable and effective COVID-19 response. For several years, Clare has traveled around the world to deepen her understanding of the human impact of these challenges, spending time with health workers in Ethiopia, midwives in Indonesia, farmers in Malawi, domestic workers in South Africa, tech entrepreneurs in Kenya, and members of women’s empowerment collectives in India.

Clare’s work has appeared in the pages of publications including The New York Times and The Washington Post and been heard by audiences from the United Nations General Assembly to the National Press Club. Clare also held the pen on a number of acclaimed speeches for the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Prior to joining Pivotal Ventures, Clare was a principal at West Wing Writers, a speechwriting and strategy firm in Washington, D.C. Clare graduated from the University of Southern California Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude. Like many of our board members and supporters, Clare’s interest in Street Sense Media developed through conversations with Street Sense vendors.
