How guns have affected my life

Guns have affected my life in many ways. Guns tend to put hate, trauma, fear and unforgiveness in the human conscience.

When I was 7 years old, I can remember after a domestic altercation that my step-father had with my mother, in the early 1970s, he turned and pointed a shotgun at me. I started crying, and somehow my mother had convinced my step-father to not do it.

I had a first cousin named Cory who was killed by a gun, after coming from a nightclub, over a girl that he and another man liked. This had really disturbed me about never wanting a gun, because guns don’t just affect the families of the dead, but the shooter’s family as well.

The murderer can get a life sentence or just the death penalty. A person should be able to legally purchase a gun, but only if they are a responsible and mature adult.
